| At the very beginning there was an idea to get the surrealist automatic drawings produced since 1999 a step further and bring them into another dimension. The method of automatic drawing refers to the old surrealist technique became known in the beginning of 20th century (rel. to psychoanalysis of Sigmund Freud, manifesto by Andre Breton, drawings by Max Ernst).
First four 3D CGI artworks came up as a series, where the composition and content were strictly led by subconscious internal reactions. The formal aesthetics is more cubist than surrealist, but its structure is my natural way of visualizing, so it is not connected to old cubism in theory. I felt, that this style would be interesting also as a strong illustrative expression, so I began building new imagery, which is not surrealist, because it's planned, but may attract attention with its content and form. psychic automatism in 3D digital art (pdf) |
