About

About YetAnotherFace

YetAnotherFace is 3D illustration style. YetAnotherFace is a brand name for 3D work of London based illustrator Petra Stefankova. Lighting TD Roman Vrbovsky made his contribution with the initial lighting setup for the scenes.

Bio of Petra Stefankova

At the very beginning there was an idea to translate surrealist automatic drawings by Petra Stefankova which she has produced since 1999 and bring them into another dimension. The method of automatic drawing refers to the old surrealist technique known since the beginning
of the 20th century (psychoanalysis
by Sigmund Freud,
writings by Andre Breton,
drawings by Max Ernst).

First four 3D CGI artworks came up as a series, where the composition and content were strictly led by subconscious internal reactions. Although some external influences based on actual personal experiences were involved. The final stage of building the shapes in the CGI form was controlled to achieve a visually interesting and balanced image.

The formal aesthetics is more cubist than surrealist, but its structure is Petra's way of visualizing, so it is not connected to old cubism in theory.

I felt, that this style and techniques would be interesting to use as a strong illustrative expression, so I began building new imagery.
