Are they real sculptures or CGI?
They are all done using Softimage XSI, which is
a 3D modeling & animation package. London based Lighting TD ROMAN VRBOVSKY helps me with lighting setup.

What is the difference?
With CGI you can choose different camera angle and/or lighting very easily and achieve various composition results or mood.
